Father in the Messe: Day 0
Here again with my Father in the Messe story: my special report about being in Essen with a kid (actually a 11 years old daughter).
Me and Caterina finally arrived in Essen. Too late to play something or to access the fair for the wednesday show … just the time to eat something at Istra Restourant (really close to the Jung hotel where we are lodged) and than ready to sleep.
(here Caterina really tired and hungry @ Istra Restourant)
The main room at Jung was, as usual, full of peoples: a quick survey, when it was still not too muc crowled, just to say hallo to my friend Mik Svellov and see some one setting up Keyflowers (I’ll take a copy tomorrow from Richard ) and the new Wallace‘s games on a table.
Since we have only two suitcases (and, I’m sure Caterina will also like to buy something) I will travel the Spiele playing more than shopping: some preordered limited editions (like Spellbound and La Loire), few games I’ll not be able to resist and I’ll take just the games publishers would like to offer for reviewing (if they looks promising, since, becoming old, I find days by days much more difficult to review games I’m not really excited by).
There are many games I’m really interested to test: for sure Lyssan, Polis: Fight for the Hegemony and Autokrator. Many title I’m sure will be available also after the Spiele I’ll order when I’ll be back home.
I’m be again here with a “presse pass” but this time I’m feeling much more Caterina’s chaperone since she has been able to have a column on Topolino (Micky Mouse) magazine (in Italy is the most read kid magazine with more than 400,000 copies published every week!) about boardgames: today it was her second appearance talking about Lupus in Tabula.
Anyway this report will be about games and being in Essen with an 11 years old daughter. I’ll try to make Caterina write few sentences of comments about the games she will play … probably something more fresh than my usual writings!
First hint to father gamers: bring your kids in Essen and make this your special holiday with them!
Second hint: before leaving make them eat fruits and vegetables and train your kids to eat meat because otherwise the life here will be hard! (and, actually, here the meat is very good).
If you are in Essen and have the GetGamers app (AppStore or Google Play) you can find me …I’m Liga! Otherwise you can meet us around from 9:00 in the morning or, sometimes, in the press room!
See you tomorrow at the Spiele or tomorrow night here at Opinionatedgamers
The only games played today are some Ticket to Ride match on Caterina’s iPod in the train between Koln and Essen.
good play
